Whitetail Scrapes - Make Your Own

If you hunt the Whitetailed Deer, you almost certainly know about their scrapes.  For some, they are a mystery.  For others, they are simply sign of deer activity.  If you read them correctly, they are much more.  Interestingly enough, Buck and Doe alike make scrapes.  Does do make scrapes, but unlike Bucks, they don't tend them.  A scrape made by a Doe is typically about 12 to 18 inches across.  That doesn't mean they won't make a bigger scrape.  Why Does make scrapes is not well understood,…See More

Selecting New Equipment

I sat in on a web conference today listening to a number of product merchants talking about the new hunting products that will be coming to market this year.  I feel fortunate to have a job that allows me to see the new products and sometimes actually use or test these products before everyone else has the opportunity to do so.  It is interesting to see how the manufacturers react to the market each year.  Often times, the improvements in the product reflect the increased demand for better…See More

"Cool.  Bowhunting is as real as it gets.  I learned more about hunting when I picked up my first bow than I ever learned with a gun.  I remember all my friends getting into bowhunting first.  They came back with all sorts of…"

Who Me?

Me, I'm an old Kentucky boy, living in Maryland.  Baltimore actually.  Talk about a fish out of water.  My Maggie is a city girl and we made a deal, renovate an old home in the city, keep it for 15 years, retire, sell it and build a cabin somewhere.  I don't know just how far outside a city I can convince her to move, but as long as I have trees, grass and I can do a little hunting, I'm cool with it.

I have old Paratrooper knees, a back that has seen better days and I am a stroke survivor.  Someone once said, "I used to complain about my feet, until I met a man with no feet."  No matter how hard you have it, someone always has it harder.  So, I complain as little as I can, thank God for all I have and try to do the best I can.

I love to hunt and fish.  I work for a company that makes it their business seeing to it that folks can enjoy the outdoors.  The members of our Armed Services go anywhere and do any job necessary, under any and all conditions, willingly, so that the rest of our nation can live free and safe.  A veteran myself, supporting service members and veterans is very near and dear to my heart.  I am just getting started here, but I have great hopes for what we can accomplish in the future.

Beginning At The End

For me, every new season begins the day after the last season ends.  Waiting until next season just isn't an option.  I want to get started now.  Where am I going to hunt or fish, what equipment will I use, who am I going to share that…

I bought a used bow but it's new to me! I got a pearson screamer 2. I bought it all set up for $200. Today was my first time shooting a compound bow. I fell in love already. It's a super nice bow that a friend had. I got it all tuned in today with some adjustments and a few new goodies! I'm really going to try and get this thing ready for deer season! Thanks for asking

Yeah Im not one to say how good or bad someones calling is but ive watch videos where I sound better then them but they would have flocks of geese fly in and take out atleast 4 every time. I like letting others call and chime in once in awhile.
