I will try to go a few more times if I haven't filled my tags...the Hunt Club owner/ operator is happy to accomodate anyone who isnt sucessful and offers a great deal on hunts and even throws in unlimited scounting since its more of a awesome do-it-yourselfer....I will follow up with you in reguards to anyone i might know, but I will definetly will pass the word down at the V.A. clinic about your outfit....thanks for your support of the military
We are based out of Central, IL. The counties we are focusing on are Peoria, Fulton, McClean, Tazwell and McDonough. I'd like to offer hunts statewide but we are fairly new. If you know of an outfitter who would like to be affilited with us please let me know or have them contact me. IL Hero Hunts is not yet connected with an outfitter in Pike County.
Regarding the bow/gun tag. The IL DNR website has the details about non-resident permits and licenses. I am trying to work something with them to get easier access for wounded veterans who participate in our events but I can't offer anything as of today. I'm sure we will have more to offer by the time fall gets here.
Take a look at the seasons for deer hunting at the DNR website (http://dnr.state.il.us/). Shotgun is pretty limited in terms of the dates but bow season starts October 1st and runs through mid January. At some locations you can bow hunt during shotgun as long as you wear the blaze orange specified by IL DNR regulations.
What dates are you going to be in Pike county? Are you going to be hunting with someone already? Do you know of any other wounded veterans who might be interested in events like ours?
I will be in Pike County this fall and i am curious if i would need to purchase a bow and shotgun tag or is it a combo of some sort? This is an event I would Love to attend and I will be coming from Michigan....Hope to hear from ya soon and God Bless
